I Woke Up this Morning, Smiled at the Rising Stats
Thank you, whoever you are
I woke up this morning to find that this story of mine, which is almost two weeks old, got a bunch of views and reads overnight and I have no idea why. It wasn’t curated and in fact got twice as many views in one night than all but one curated story of mine has ever managed to get altogether. The only curated story that has done better is this one about Bukowski. But, I figure the name Bukowski had more to do with that than the fact that it was curated.
I’m not complaining. I have no idea how this kind of thing happens, but it makes me feel good to know that people are reading my stories.
Because of this, I feel like making a short post to highlight some of my favorite stories that got very little engagement. I’m not going to bother highlighting any poems because nobody likes poetry and I get it, believe me.

Dreaming of a Hacienda is a story from my cab driving days which I have always liked. It involves one of the many insane, entitled Americans who I drove around in my cab, many of them working the system to feed an opioid habit. But it’s also funny, I think.

The Last Fariseo is a true story, like many of my stories, about living with my mother-in-law…
